Nexus One Android 2.2 Froyo Ported to HTC Hero CDMA

After Google unveiled Android 2.2 Froyo at Google I/O, users becoming impatient to update their android phones to Android 2.2. Unfortunately unless phone companies themselves work & rollout update for their android phones there is no way users can have Android 2.2.

However you can get unofficial Android 2.2 update with the help of enthusiastic developers of XDA forum. Nexus One users are quite lucky as Google as already started updating Nexus One to Android 2.2 and we have already covered article how you can download and manually update nexus one to Android 2.2.

Now here is good news for HTC Hero users, zenulator one of senior member of XDA forum has successfully ported Nexus One Android 2.2 Froyo FRF50 to HTC Hero. He says,

“Here is a quick and dirty froyo port from the Nexus One.

I put this up for people to test and provide fixes. Don’t expect a fully working rom until the full source is dropped or 2.2 come out on a similar phone.“

What works:

1. Data

2. Calls (can’t speak to the other person)

3. New Launcher2

4. 2.2 Google Apps (haven’t tested them all)

5. Keypad/Trackball leds

Not working:

1. Audio/Mic

2. GPS

3. Wifi

4. Bluetooth

5. Maps force closes

6. Flash Player 10.1 from the market will crash the browser.
